Ok, I got it
The Alps - Bernese Oberland
I had my third holiday of 2009 in July and stayed at Innertkirchen in the Bernese Oberland. The area is wild and rugged. Majestic and beautiful. On our way down we visited the Lungern Tower and its Lake
Our friends were already there and next day we were thrown in at the deep end. First up to the high (around 2,000m) and popular Grimsel Pass and then to Oberaajoch
Our route was along the lake, up the glacier to the hutte on the col just left of the Oberaahorn which we were to climb the next day
At dawn we got the above view of the local giant of the Finsteraarhorn (4274m) but soon after the weather closed in and there were no more pictures until we were nearly back down
Next day was recovery time so we visited Rosenlaui with its classical hotel and great views of the Wellhorns and Wetterhorn plus this interesting water powered sawmill
We visited the Reichenbach Falls - the scene of Sherlock Holmes death (? - Conan Doyle brought him back from it for a sequel) - getting wet as after a very rainy night the falls were in full spate and blowing over the path. Then Pete took his niece Katie training
Next day it was back to serious stuff as we went up to the Tierbergli Hutte - thats me struggling up. Then Pete and John are the dots ascending the Sustenhorn
Then it was a day off and I found this bridge in Innertkirchen and these Falls in Lauterbrunnen
A more energetic day took us past this friendly beast on our way up to the Dollen hutte (one of the hardest huts to reach in The Alps)
Finally you can't go to The Oberland without visiting Kleine Scheidig to stand beneath the Eiger - on a day when one of our group was due to climb it
