Ok, I got it
Haworth Moor
There are dozens of walks over Haworth Moor and most of them have nothing to do with the Bronte's but, of course, thats why many people visit the sort of rough land they normally never would go near. Anyway here's just a bit of the moor with Bronte associations
First the Bronte Falls - disappointing as waterfalls go, but you can sit on the Bronte chair and admire the bridge although this is fairly new since the original was washed away in the Nineties
Way over the moors is Ponden Kirk - the Bronte's Pensitone Crag - near the top of the large cleft formed by Ponden Clough - it's a tricky descent to reach
and boasts a cave you can crawl through - or live in after a nuclear holocaust?
A little further at the top of the Clough there's a delightful area with a charming small waterfall - a great place for lunch with hardly any visitors
And nearby you can find the genuine autographs of Emily and Jane, not to mention Cathy
About a (hard) mile west over rough moorland there is Crow Hill which, since open access, which now allows us to go there legally, boasts a small, but growing, cairn. On its slopes is this memorial to a stranger who died here
Top Withens is just a kilometre away south of Ponden Kirk with maybe the odd faint track over the hill - you may prefer to take the longer, pathed, route! I must have dozens of photos of it, but this is the only digital one I can find - the sheep is an ever-present and will eat your lunch for you
But please don't call it Wuthering Heights - oh, and yes, most of the signs are in Japanese and you may well meet a worshipper from there
